Abstract

This article aims to examine the integration of Islamic values within the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The Merdeka Curriculum is a recent policy in Indonesia’s education system that emphasizes strengthening the Pancasila student profile, differentiated learning, and character development. In the midst of globalization and multiculturalism, it is crucial to ensure that Islamic values are not marginalized but systematically and contextually integrated into educational practices. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach through literature review and curriculum document analysis. The data sources include the Merdeka Curriculum documents, PAI textbooks, classical and contemporary Islamic literature, and national education regulations. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis techniques and a value integration mapping model. The findings reveal that the Merdeka Curriculum provides sufficient space for integrating Islamic values, particularly in the domains of spirituality, ethics, and global diversity. However, the success of this integration largely depends on the competence of teachers, school environment support, and adaptability to student needs. This article recommends strengthening the role of PAI teachers as value agents and enhancing religious literacy aligned with the spirit of Merdeka Belajar (independent learning).
