Konsep Dasar Metode Tafsir Ijmali: Telaah Ontologis dalam Literatur Akademis

Abstract

This study examines the fundamental concepts of the Tafsir Ijmali method through an ontological approach based on academic literature. Tafsir Ijmali, as one of the methods of Quranic exegesis, is often viewed as a simple and concise approach; however, philosophical inquiries into the nature of its method remain limited. This research aims to uncover the ontological essence of the Tafsir Ijmali method, including its material object, formal object, and epistemic status within the map of exegesis methodology. Utilizing a qualitative method based on literature review with a conceptual analysis approach, this study analyzes various scientific journal articles discussing the Tafsir Ijmali method. The results demonstrate that, ontologically, Tafsir Ijmali possesses a material object in the form of the literal meaning of the Quranic text and a formal object in the form of an orientation toward simplicity (taysīr) and communication effectiveness. Its status as a derivative method indicates that it lacks strong epistemic independence, yet therein lies its pragmatic advantage for da'wah (proselytization) and basic teaching. This study contributes to the development of the philosophy of exegesis by highlighting the ontological dimension, which has thus far received insufficient attention in the study of tafsir methodology.
